When Ms. [Jan Nyquist] spoke to Mr. [Charles I. Ecker] in June about the need to appoint a gay person to the Human Rights Commission, she was not lobbying for herself. She wanted him to nominate gay activist Robert Healy to the commission. But when she finished, Mr. Ecker asked if she would be willing to be nominated.
